A Chicago Tradition, Reimagined
ASH Gastropub is an independently owned, chef-driven restaurant on Chicago's Southwest Side, offering elevated American cuisine, handcrafted cocktails, and genuine hospitality in a distinctive, welcoming atmosphere.
Our story began in 1987, when Anthony Solofra's father opened Solofra's Sports Bar, a neighborhood establishment that became a familiar gathering place for generations of local residents.
Growing up in the family business, Anthony developed an appreciation for hospitality, hard work, and the personal relationships that make a neighborhood restaurant special. His passion for food eventually led him to the Culinary Institute of America, where he refined the culinary skills that would shape his vision for the future.
In 2019, Anthony transformed the longtime family establishment into ASH Gastropub, introducing a new culinary identity while preserving the character and history of the original space.
Fire, Lime & ASH — Taking Our Passion on the Road
Our passion for food and hospitality doesn't stop at the restaurant doors.
Fire, Lime & ASH is our food truck, bringing the creativity, quality, and culinary approach of ASH Gastropub beyond our Archer Avenue location.
Whether it's a corporate gathering, private celebration, community event, or special occasion, Fire, Lime & ASH offers another way to experience the food and hospitality behind our family-owned business.
Together with our restaurant and catering services, the food truck allows us to bring the ASH experience to guests throughout the Chicago area.
Elevated Cuisine. Genuine Hospitality.
At ASH Gastropub, our philosophy is straightforward: exceptional food, thoughtfully crafted cocktails, and attentive hospitality should come together in an atmosphere where every guest feels welcome.
Our chef-driven menu features elevated American cuisine, combining quality ingredients, creative techniques, and bold flavors. From premium steaks and fresh seafood to signature burgers, inventive appetizers, and seasonal specialties, each dish reflects our commitment to culinary excellence.
Our bar complements the dining experience with handcrafted cocktails, premium spirits, and a carefully considered beverage selection.
As a single-location, family-owned restaurant, we take pride in offering a personal level of hospitality that makes every visit memorable. Whether you're a longtime neighborhood guest or visiting Chicago for the first time, our goal is to deliver a dining experience that feels both exceptional and genuinely welcoming.
Rooted in Chicago. Committed to Our Community.
When the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the restaurant industry in 2020, Anthony pursued another calling, entering the Chicago Fire Academy and beginning a career in public service.
Today, as both a Chicago firefighter and restaurant owner, Anthony maintains a strong connection to the city and community that have been part of his family's story for decades.
Although ASH has evolved considerably from its beginnings as Solofra's Sports Bar, the values behind the business remain unchanged: hard work, attention to detail, personal hospitality, and a commitment to bringing people together.
From our family's beginnings in 1987 to the opening of ASH Gastropub in 2019 and the addition of Fire, Lime & ASH, we're proud to continue that tradition while finding new ways to share our passion for great food.
ASH Gastropub — Elevated Dining. Neighborhood Roots. Genuine Hospitality.
Thoughtfully Designed. Built with History.
The transformation of ASH was more than a renovation. Anthony personally took on much of the construction, incorporating distinctive materials and original architectural elements that reflect both the building's history and his vision.
The original bar and cooler, dating back to the 1940s, remain integral parts of the restaurant. Original Chicago brick, hand-torched wood, and Indonesian teak boat wood create a warm, industrial-inspired setting that balances historic character with contemporary design.
The result is a distinctive dining environment—refined without being formal, comfortable without being ordinary.
